I grew up between southeastern Virginia and the Lowcountry of South Carolina and if there is one thing I love, it’s Southern comfort food. I love things just smothered in yummy gravy, like this homemade sausage gravy. I usually make this gravy when we have our breakfast for dinner nights. It’s perfect over homemade biscuits with eggs on the side. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
The great thing about this gravy is that it takes just three ingredients and it’s beyond easy to make. You can’t mess it up! Change the flavor by choosing different kinds of sausage, I usually like a sage seasoned for mine. This is also great served over homemade Texas toast!
3 Ingredient Homemade Sausage Gravy
Delicious homemade sausage gravy is the perfect companion to biscuits or Texas toast. Best of all this easy recipe only has 3 ingredients!
- 1 pound sage ground sausage
- 3 cups milk (higher fat content yields better results)
- 1/3 cup flour
- pepper to taste
In a medium skillet, brown the sausage until cooked through. Mash into small pieces as you cook.
Add flour into meat and stir to mix. Cook for one minute.
Slowly pour in milk, stir continuously until gravy thickens to your desired consistency. Season with pepper to taste if desired.
Try this with my simple biscuit recipe, you won’t believe how easy they are!
