Slow Cooker Mulled Cider

Description

Mulled cider (sometimes called wassail) is made even easier by preparing it in the slow cooker. A great crock pot recipe for holiday entertaining.


Ingredients

  • 1 gallon apple cider
  • 1 1/2 cups cranberry juice
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 12 whole cloves
  • 1 medium orange, sliced
  • 1 inch of ginger, sliced thinly
  • 2 star anise

Instructions

  1. Pour the cider and cranberry juice into the slow cooker.
  2. Wrap cinnamon, cloves, ginger and star anise in a cheesecloth or coffee filter and place in the cider mixture.
  3. Add sliced oranges and cook on low 4-6 hours or high 2-3 hours.
  4. Garnish with sliced oranges and additional cinnamon sticks if desired.
