Had I known I was going to end up a DIY blogger, I think I would have put a little something extra in my wedding vows. You know, something along the lines of:
“Do you hereby swear to tolerate your wife’s constantly changing decor?”
“Do you promise to smile and nod at her amazing decor ideas instead of vetoing them in favor of things that are obviously not as attractive?”
Yes, I think those vows would have served me well.
The dilemma of the
day month is the Master bedroom (these are older pics I’m sharing today). I’m not happy with it. Even after the ever so painful process of stenciling the accent wall. Oi. Never again. For now.
You see, my very first DIY build was our master bedroom headboard and I do really love it. But I kinda don’t. I love it by itself but not in my bedroom. And since we have the only king bed in the house it kinda means it needs to go somewhere else.
Go read it, it’s fantastic. (But make sure you come back!)
She talked about how as someone who loves design it’s hard sometimes to commit to a style in a room because you have to say goodbye to all the things that you may love that won’t fit for that design. I love my bedding and the colors in my bedroom and while I love the headboard it just doesn’t fit. It doesn’t fit enough that it’s bothering me every time I walk in the room. And that does not make for a good master bedroom retreat, you know?
So I want to glam it up a bit…I’m thinking something upholstered, perhaps tufted, with nailhead trim. Like this amazing DIY headboard from Sarah M. Dorsey Designs…swoon much?
And we’re back to the disagreement between my husband and I. Because he’s a man of opinions….lots and lots of opinons. Opinions that don’t include tufting and nailhead trim.
I think this headboard decision is going to take a while for us to find a middle ground of my glam vision and his stubborn not glam vision (I give myself a month to wear him down, should we start taking bets?)
I’ll update you soon and hopefully have some fun DIY coming up!
