I while back I shared my plan for my dining room makeover. Its been slow-going getting it started but I finally had a chance to paint the dining room table this week. I know, I know…some of you out there are really going to hate me for this!! Here is a picture of what it looked like before:
It is/was a very nice table, in the Duncan Phyfe style but we seriously never used it since buying a larger table for our eat-in kitchen. (You can see that table here.) I had it listed on craiglist for months at a super cheap price and had no takers so finally I decided to make it, and the entire dining room, reflect our current taste a bit more.
So, if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter you might have seen some of the sneak peeks of the process a few days ago. It was not too hard to paint it, although I admit I tried spray paint on the legs at first (like I did on the upcycled chair to side table since it was part of the same set) and it wasn’t working so I used the same Alaskan Husky color from when I painted the master bedroom and paired it with the gloss black spray paint on the top just like my made-over nightstands.
I love the way it turned out, you can really see the carving of the legs and under the tabletop so much better now. The black top is also going to be (hopefully) much more forgiving now that it is painted and has a few good coats of polyurethane on it.
I love the copper feet on it too.
So, the rug is out, the table painted. That’s progress at least!
I’m thinking the chairs should go black with new fabric on the seat covers, what do you think?
Also, does anyone have any pictures of rooms that pair wood furniture with painted furniture? I’m not going to do anything to our matching server but need some inspiration pics of pairing unpainted and painted wood together.
Have a great weekend!
