Last week I took my boys to Jamestown, VA to explore the Jamestown Settlement. We’ve been learning about it for the past month as part of our homeschooling journey and I thought the one on one interactive nature of the settlement would be fun for them. I knew it’s be about 5 hours total drive time there and back plus wrangling three kiddos in the hot and humid weather for the most part outside so I went with these super flattering and versatile Old Navy shorts paired with an oh-so-lightweight cami from LOFT (which I’ve already purchased in two colors and will probably be buying more of!)
To keep from showing too much skin (or too much other stuff when bending over!) I added a square silk scarf-these are my new obsession, they are lightweight enough to wear in the heat and give me a free pass from trying to pick out a necklace to go with my outfits! Here is a similar one, and I bought this one too when I was in Atlanta for Haven and it’s now 50% off !
I have to say that these wedges are the single most comfortable non-sneakers I’ve ever had. They were a splurge for me but I have heel spurs and flares of plantars fasciitis and have finally come to the realization I can’t wear those cute flat sandals I see everywhere unless I want to get regular shots of steroids in my feet-not a fun thing. I was able to walk with my boys through Powhatan Villages and Colonial Forts with no issues at all-well worth the investment!
I’m loving the orange and navy combo in this outfit…it reminds me a lot of the decor on our back balcony I shared with you a while back:
Right now is an awesome time to shop for outdoor decor by the way! World Market has most things 50% off-I just bought this Umbrella Stand, Base, and Canopy for the porch-in orange of course!! I picked up an extra gold canopy too since they are so inexpensive right now!
Do you love orange and navy together? What kinds of outfits do you turn to to beat the heat?
