Do you ever get ready to make dinner and go to grab that last ingredient and BOOM it’s not in the cabinet like you thought it was? That is the story of my life! Last year when we were living in England it was even worse, there were so many seasoning mixes I was used to using for easy dinners that weren’t available in the British stores, and our closest US military base store was an hour away…no running down the road for seasoning mixes anymore! I had to learn to make my own, like this Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix I’m sharing today.
Honestly, once you get the flavor of your mix you’ll wonder why you wasted time buying the prepackaged mixes anyways! It’s so easy to mix your own and less expensive to boot!
Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried dill
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
Mix all the ingredients and keep in a sealed container, I use a small mason jar. I mostly use this for flavoring foods like combining with breading for chicken tenders, etc but you can make actual ranch salad dressing with it by combining 1 tablespoon of the seasonings with a third cup of real mayonnaise and a quarter cup of milk (add more or less milk if you want it thicker or thinner.)
Do you use store-bought seasoning mixes or create your own? Let me know in the comments!
