Boo! Are you ready for Halloween yet? 26 days! I’ve always loved Halloween and its even more fun now that I have little ones. To get in the spirit I’ve been crafting up some Halloween goodness and I thought you all might like to make your own little faux graveyard scene like mine. Here’s how I did it:
- moss (real or fake)
- black cardstock
- white gel pen or white out pen
- jute twine
- Mod Podge
- Mod Podge Podgeable Shapes
- Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
- computer w/printer to print “Boo” letters
- Hot Glue Gun
I started off my printing out my “boo” letters using a Halloween-y (that’s a word, right?) font on PicMonkey. I cut the letters out and used Mod Podge to adhere them to my Podgeable Shapes. When the Mod Podge was dry I covered each shape with Dimensional Magic to give it a glassy look. (I told you when I posted my Faux Mosaic that I love that stuff!)
While the Dimensional Magic is drying prepare your “graveyard.” Using real or fake moss cover the top of a piece of styrofoam. (Or if you’re like me and realize your real moss has now died you can spray paint it green again before this step!!) You can place your styrofoam into any container you have on hand but I just wrapped the bottom of mine with black cardstock. Cut small gravestones from black cardstock as well and using a white gel pen or white-out pen add your headstone inscriptions. A little hot glue can put them in place on the moss.
Once your podgeable shapes are dry string them on some jute (I used a dab of hot glue to hold them in place along the twine.) Cut your skewers to the desired height, string the twine between them and insert into the styrofoam to finish it off!
This would be super cute under a cloche but apparently I’m the only home decor blogger in the world without one so I can’t show you that!
Have you brought out the Halloween decor yet?
