So last week when I shared my New Home Tour I mentioned that I wasn’t quite ready to share the little family room that sits off our kitchen…well today is the day!
This room really proved to be a challenge for us, it sits off of the kitchen and is awkwardly laid out-you can see an empty pic on the “before” home pics post. One side is open to the kitchen, there is a fireplace taking up another side, two large windows on another, and the third is only a partial wall because it opens to a walkway. Furniture placement was a matter of trial and error.
This room is primarily for our 3 young boys to hang out in or for all of us to hang out in together-it keeps the living room more of a kid-free zone which preserves a crumbless couch and lets me put pretty breakables out in there!
We ordered a new loveseat from Target and found the rug at TJ Maxx (one side of the rug that is artfully hidden under the sofa is actually not square-which explains the great price we got!) This gallery wall was literally thrown up Sunday evening in a rush-I would like to replace the black and white pictures with some more colorful paintings in the future but it works for now!
I found an awesome new online shopping source and y’all aren’t going to believe it when I tell you: Staples. Yes. I’m serious. Go over to Staples.com and check it out, they have some amazing finds-that gorgeous yellow fretwork pillow, the blue Moroccan pillow behind it and the chartreuse chevron floor poofs are all from there-awesome right??
I mentioned the fireplace, it sits opposite our new loveseat. I kept the decor here mostly white (which you know I love!) to balance out the pattern and color in the rest of the room.
This set of three faux succulents is also from Staples…and are probably one of my new favorite decor items! These babies will be making appearances all over the house in the coming months-I can guarantee that! I’m usually not a big fan of fake plants but they are really high quality with great detail!
I’m really excited about this room and the direction it’s going, as always it’s a work in progress but I love the color and pattern in here in contrast to our old house!
It’s also very livable…we scotchguarded everything so it will stand up to stains and general little boy abuse. My favorite thing is probably the floor poofs, they are getting a ton of use (excuse the diaper-only pic, he’s going through a clothing-optional phase!) Oh, and the boys aren’t the only ones in the house loving those floor poofs:
I’m looking forward to adding some more touches to this room but I just couldn’t wait to show you our progress!
I was provided complimentary product from Staples for this post but as always all text and opinions are my own, besides-you guys can see how awesome that stuff is for yourself, right!!
