Hi Everyone! I’m Erica and I blog over at For the Love of Decorating. I am soooooo excited that Melissa has chosen me as one of her contributors! I love her blog so I truly consider it an honor to be posting here 🙂
So it’s officially SPRING…finally! It has been a long winter for us East Coasters and while the temperature outside isn’t QUITE spring-like just yet, decorating for the season has begun inside my home. I find myself adding COLOR anywhere and everywhere, all while trying to spend as little as possible.
How does FREE sound?? Good? Ok then, let’s do a FREE spring art project!
Here’s what you will need :
- Behr paint chips – free at Home Depot
- Glue stick
- Picture frame
When I saw these paint chips at Home Depot the other day, they reminded me of flower petals. Flower petals = spring so I grabbed a handful of each color & decided to make an abstract floral print out of them.
I decided on a color scheme and gathered my supplies.
Then I started laying out the design.
For the turquoise petal in the middle, I had to make a curved cut to remove the color name on the paint chip. I just followed the curve with my scissors but you could use another chip as a guide and trace a line to follow.
Next, I used the turquoise petal as a template to make the same cut on the final blue petal.
Now that I had my design configured, it was just a matter of adding some glue to hold it together. I started with the top petal and worked my way down.
Finally, glue your abstract flower onto a sheet of white paper and insert into a frame you have on hand.
Note : I did add another turquoise petal to the back to give it more height.
There you have it. Quick, easy, fun, festive, and FREE! That is the kind of project I love! 🙂
I hope you enjoyed my first post here today. I am looking forward to sharing more with you all in the coming months!
I’d love to see you pop over to my blog or connect with me on any of my social media platforms!
