This time last week we were getting 8 inches of snow. Can you believe that? And tomorrow we are expecting flurries again…but this past weekend we had a glorious few days of temperatures in the low 60s and I am deep in the depths of spring fever! So despite the promise of at least one more snow, I made this pretty DIY spring wreath for the front door. (You’ll have to excuse many of the pictures in the tutorial-I started making the wreath while sitting out on my front stoop watching my boys {finally} getting some awesome outside time!)
Supplies:
- 24″ grapevine wreath
- floral tape
- floral wire
- faux flowers
- wire cutters
- 3′ burlap ribbon
- hot glue
- scissors

I wanted my flowers to remind me of wildflowers and be predominantly green, yellow and white. I bought 3 small stems of the white flowers and then 2 each of different greenery bundles-one had green thistles and the other had yellow foliage so I thought they were a good balance.
Use wire cutters or the “snipping” portion of pliers to cut the stems of the bundles to separate them-this gives you more flexibility when arranging the two bundles of flowers. As you cut apart the bundles divide them into two fairly equal piles.
Start with your longest stems and use floral tape to secure the shorter stems to it, wrapping around between stems as you add them.
Use floral wire to attach the first bundle to the wreath. (You can see I’ve now come inside…my three year old had a stumble and a pretty good boo-boo so we were now watching a little Mike the Knight and having some chocolate milk in the living room!)
Attach the second bundle below the first (yes, this wreath traveled around a lot-now I was finishing it up on my desk in our multipurpose room because I needed my glue gun!!) If you find that the two bundles don’t fall exactly where you would like them to, use some extra floral wire to attach them to the wreath further towards the ends to create the look you want-I had to do this for my bottom bundle to get it to curve along the line of the wreath bottom.
Create a bow by looping your burlap ribbon figure 8 style and securing the middle with floral wire. Use an extra scrap of ribbon and hot glue to cover the middle of the bow. Hot glue the bow to the wreath to finish it off!
That’s it! I’m sure if you didn’t travel around the house with it like I did it would take you less than 30 minutes to make this, and it’s such a pretty welcome to the front door, don’t you think?
Anybody else starting their spring decorating yet? How many of you still have Christmas decor out-I know at least a few do!!

Such a pretty wreath, Melissa!

This is lovely. We don’t have any Christmas still on display, but I have tiny pile in the garage that was found after we put the stuff. Hopefully it will get put away when we pull the Easter stuff out. Have a great weekend!
