So, as my girls Courtenay from The Creek Line House and Gwen from The Bold Abode know, I’ve been on a frantic hunt for pillows for my sitting room. The moment we arrived in Atlanta for Haven I drug them to IKEA to search for this “perfect pillow” I had in mind. Of course I didn’t find them and we were almost late to the opening reception, but they were so sweet to indulge my obsessive hunt!
I’ve had a very distinct vision of what I wanted-a gold embroidered geometric design (not to get too specific, right?!) Whenever I have a super specific design in mind I usually have to go the DIY route because I can’t find what I’m looking for. Even once I decided to DIY my pillows I couldn’t find the base I wanted-a dusky blue gray to complement the walls of the room.
Until last week when my laptop broke and I had to make the trek to Durham to the Apple Store to get it fixed. I popped in a Target to pick up a trike for my son’s birthday and lo and behold what did I find, and on clearance for $8.48 no less?
They were the perfect color but I was a little worried about the microfiber material because I planned on using a Krylon Gold Leaf Pen to draw my design. After such an insane search I decided it was work a shot however.
I drew out my design and was really pleased with the way the pen worked on the fabric. I did have to take my time and stop and shake the pen a lot as well as draw on paper every now and then to get the ink flowing but it turned out great!
So what do you think? I love how it breaks up the white of the settee. Oh and did you see the rug-my hubby snuck his favorite rug back in the room while I was at Haven-he bought it during his first deployment in Iraq ten years ago and I keep shoving it in a closet and he keeps bringing it back out. I’m thinking it doesn’t look too bad in the room now though…what do y’all think?
