Hi Happier Homemaker fans! I’m Courtenay from The Creek Line House. Since Melissa is out of commission on and off this week with technical issues, I thought I’d stop by and share a few of my own readers’ favorite homemaking tips from my blog to keep you company. You might find something in here that you find interesting as well! You never know, it could happen…
I just love a good tip. Something bite-sized, easy to do, and totally helpful for things we all run into in every day life.
Getting ants in and around your house seems to be unavoidable in the Spring and Summer in some places. I discovered a great natural ant killer recipe last year and I shared it on my blog this Spring. I’ve loved hearing all the success stories from my readers who found themselves ant free overnight after using my recipe!
If you’re a perfect painter, then this one’s not for you. If you’re like everyone else, then you occasionally make mistakes and have little splatters and spills that you might need to clean up every now and then. I discovered this little tip by accident when I cleaned some paint right off of one of my walls. Oops! Now I use it all the time on the paint that I don’t want to stay put.
If you have pets at home like I do, then you also have pet fur. I can go through a ton of those disposable Swiffer cloths every day just trying to keep up. I figured out a quick and easy way to make a whole stack of reusable Swiffer cloths using something you can find at the dollar store. Now I just wash them and use them again. I’ve never looked back!
Ever find yourself out of dryer sheets right in the middle of a load of laundry? Or are you trying to get away from using chemicals on your clothes? Try this trick for replacing dryer sheets that the clever people of the world have been using for years! It really works!
This last one is a stunner! By mixing a few everyday kitchen ingredients, you can make yourself a potent natural weed killing solution that’s completely safe for your family and your pets. If I’ve ever used those chemical weed killers, I’ve always felt a little afraid to breathe for a few days afterwards for fear of breathing in the fumes. Now, I can kill my weeds and breathe easy! This is one of the best gardening secrets around in my opinion!
I hope you found a tip or two in here that might help you out in the future and make life a little easier for you. If this kind of thing is right up your alley, then come join me over at The Creek Line House where I share lots of easy-peasy ideas for decorating, homekeeping, and renovating in a century old farm house.
Thanks so much Courtenay for sharing your awesome tips with my readers! Courtenay was also my roomie at Haven and spoiled me with a bag of delicious Canadian candies! Lucky me! I’m off trying to get my laptop fixed today, wish me luck!! And don’t forget to hop over and check out these awesome tips on Courtenay’s blog and leave her a comment while you’re there!

Hi Jasmine, I’m so sorry You’re having trouble with the ant killer. That post was actually a guest post for me by another blogger-I’d recommend asking her directly in a comment on her original post here as I have not personally tried this tip: http://www.creeklinehouse.com/2013/05/the-very-best-homemade-ant-killer.html?_szp=450267
