Hello. My name is Melissa, and I’m addicted to glitter.
No, really. I love it. I love it so much that I went a little overboard glittering pumpkins this past weekend. You see, I’m not doing traditional orange for this year’s decor so I wanted to take my little Baby Boo pumpkins and turn them color that worked a little better for my decorations (I’ll be sharing my fall home decor on Wednesday-be sure to pop back by to see it!) These adorable DIY Glittered Pumpkins are easy to make and a fun way to add some bling to your autumn decor! (Be sure to read through for the secret to making the glitter stay put too!)
As a #12Monthsof Martha I am literally rolling in craft supplies and I have to say that Martha Stewart glitter is my all time favorite-it comes in such beautiful colors!! I use the glittering glue too for great coverage.
I worked my pumpkins half at a time, brushing on the glue and then pouring the glitter over top. Be sure to work over a prepared work surface-I use newsprint and I pour my glitter over a piece of smaller paper so I can gather up the extra and pour it back into container.
The key to making the glitter stay put is to take one more step after glittering. Let the glue dry thoroughly, then brush on a coat of Martha Stewart Crafts Multi-Surface Durable Gloss Finish. This will seal the glitter onto the pumpkin and you won’t have glitter all over your house every time you handle the pumpkins. (I first shared this tip when I made these thrift store glittered candlesticks!)
I love these pretty colors-aren’t they so pretty? What colors would you make yours?
My boys glittered their own pumpkins too-it makes a great kid’s craft as well!
