I have to admit, a few years ago I was not the biggest fan of cilantro-but my husband LOVES it! Over the years the flavor has grown on me and I now keep it on hand all the time and grow it every summer in my garden. While it’s easy to simply clip some off my plants in the summer, keeping it on hand the rest of the year can be a challenge-cilantro wilts so fast! I’ve tried a bunch of “hacks” showing me how to keep cilantro fresh over the years and most of them fell short. I finally found a solution that works though-and it’s super simple!
When I get home from the grocery store and unpack the groceries I fill a mason jar half way with cold water then clip the stems of the cilantro and place it in the mason jar. Then I cover the cilantro with a produce bag (loosely, it doesn’t have to be tight) and then keep it in the refrigerator! That’s it-so simple right? No more throwing out wilted cilantro-this method keeps it fresh as day one for over a week (if you don’t eat it all before then!)
Here are a few of my favorite meals to use my cilantro with:
