FAQs

Can these be made ahead of time?

These little puff pastries are best enjoyed fresh. You can bake the pastry cups ahead of time but I would not assemble them more than an hour in advance to keep the pastry crisp.

Where do I get puff pastry cups?

They are located in the freezer section of the grocery store, usually near the pie shells.

I can’t find puff pastry cups, what can I use instead?

If you can’t find the puff pastry cups you can make your own with puff pastry sheets. Cut the pastry sheets into approximately 2-3 inch squares. Use a mini muffin pan to shape the squares into cup form, give them an egg wash, and bake as instructed. When you remove them from the oven, use the handle of a wooden spoon to push the inflated middle portion down and allow to cool before filling.
You can also use this recipe for making puff pastry shells that will more closely resemble the cups.
