I’ve been doing some major soul-searching lately about the blog. You see, I didn’t start blogging with the intent of it becoming a full time job-far from it. It started as a creative outlet while my husband was deployed in Iraq (read the story here.) For the longest time I’ve shared whatever I was doing at the time-the recipes I was making for a party, DIY projects I did around the house, etc. Lately however I’ve been changing the way I see this blog. More than a personal diary of what I’m doing at a particular time, I want it to benefit YOU.
I have three little boys under age 10, I homeschool, I work from home, I KNOW what it’s like to be busy. I also know what it’s like to see all these projects on Pinterest or shared on Facebook and feel overwhelmed like you’re the only one who isn’t handcrafting intricately decorated sugar cookies or creating elaborate cartoon themed birthday party displays for your 2 year old.
I know what it’s like to want to make a recipe and have to hunt through four different health food stores for an exotic ingredient….what it’s like to want to make a DIY project and find out I need a particular (expensive) tool in order to do so. I know what it’s like to see these perfectly decorated and organized homes on television and online and look around and wonder how in the world I could ever make my home look like that.
I know because I’ve been there.
I want The Happier Homemaker to be a place where you visit and you leave not feeling overwhelmed with something you want to do but have neither the time, skill, or energy for. I want it to be a place that empowers you to make your life just a little easier, your meals a little tastier, your family healthier and happier.
Please always feel free to contact me if you have questions or topics you’d like to see here on the blog-I love hearing from my readers!
Do you have a “Word of the Year” this year? I’m extending this mantra of Simplicity to all areas of my life. I’ll be sure to share how it’s working as we move further into 2016. Happy New Year!
