Growing up in the South, iced tea was the drink of choice in my family. Each family member had their own recipe but it was always made with black tea, and always plenty sweet! As I grew up I became the anomaly in that I actually moved away from sweet tea and drink unsweet tea exclusively now, my three boys love it as well.
One thing that has always been annoying to me is that it’s hard to find good tea-the kind that tastes like I make at home-when I’m out and about. When we’re road tripping the kids and I are limited to water because nothing truly tastes like “real” tea to us! So when I heard about the new Snapple®Straight Up Tea™ I was a bit skeptical but I went ahead and picked some up at Giant as we headed out of town last weekend for a day trip to Harper’s Ferry, WV.
Snapple®Straight Up Tea™ is made with black tea so that’s why I had to give it a try. It also comes in three flavors-Unsweetened with 0 calories, Sorta Sweet with 90 calories and Sweet with 180 calories-I grabbed the Unsweetened for my trip.
After a fun hike enjoying some amazing fall colors with my husband and three boys, I settled down for a rest and cracked it open-lo and behold-it was the real deal. It tastes just like the unsweetened black tea I make myself! Jackpot!! My kids all agreed it was fantastic too!
I know this is going to be my new on-the-go drink for sure! Have you tried it yet? What do you prefer-sweet or unsweet tea? Are you curious to try their Sorta Sweet variety?
