The folks over at Martha Stewart Living know I like surprises so I was super excited when they told me they were sending over a mystery crafting box for me to create a Halloween craft with last week. When I got the package I eagerly opened it up to find these goodies:
I was challenged to create a Halloween tote bag with some Martha Stewart Crafts paints, stencil supplies, and a canvas tote. They even threw in some yummy Weight Watchers Salted Caramel Brownie Bliss snacks to keep me fueled up while I worked!
I loved the funky chevron stencil pattern and it immediately reminded me of some orange chevron wired ribbon I had in my stash. I pulled it out and started ruffling it and used hot glue to adhere it to the bag.
I simply worked my way around the bag hot gluing as I went and tucked the end under the beginning ribbon when I finished circling the bag. (The snacks were much appreciated about half way through my hot glue gun efforts!) At the bottom of the bag I used the stencil, craft paint, and a stencil brush to gently dab my design on the bag. (No pictures of this part as it was a two hand process!)
I think the bag turned out pretty darn cute and I’m excited to carry it as I take my boys trick or treating later this month. It will come in handy for toting all their various baggage around and keeping some healthy snacks for me so I can resist all that Halloween candy!
Thank you to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia for sending me this fun craft challenge! All opinions are my own!
