I’ve been avoiding showing y’all the kitchen. There’s nothing inherently wrong with it, it’s just not, well, my old kitchen. Remember the old kitchen? Let’s reminiscence for a minute:
She was a beauty. Because we built the last house from scratch I was able to pick every finish and it was my happy place at the last house. Here is the kitchen at the new place:
Okay, so it’s not bad, right? I like the tall ceilings and tall cabinets but the cabinet colors aren’t my favorite and I’m not a fan at all of the granite color and the lighting. But, it’s a rental right? One of the best things about the new kitchen is it’s natural light-it’s gorgeous in here! All that light is inspiring me to get some plants growing-check out this new microgreens planter I started last week:
I’m going to be all fancy snipping mini carrot greens, tom thumb peas, and kale greens right from my very own countertop here soon!
I found the planter at Uncommon Goods, have you heard of them? I love, love, love the store! They have a ton of, well, uncommon goods. Guess they chose their name wisely didn’t they?
I also picked up these plant nannies for my fiddle leaf figs. I’m obsessed with those plants in case you hadn’t noticed in previous posts-like probably not in a healthy way, more like a Gollum “my precious” type of way!
The plant nannies slowly water the plant deep in the soil through a terra cotta spike, so it’s extra assurance to me that I’m not going to over or under water these beauties!
Uncommon Goods has way, way more than garden things though, they are an awesome source for gifts, entertaining items, decor, and just general fun stuff. They are also a company with heart that support creativity and our environment:
We make it our mission to support and provide a platform for artists and designers; in fact, half of what we sell is made by hand. Most of the products we carry are created right here in the USA, and about one-third of our entire collection incorporates recycled and/or upcycled materials. At the core of our company is a great respect for the integrity of the creative individual and the belief that it is our responsibility to use our business to impact the world in a positive way.
How can you not love a company with those values?? Here are a few of my favorite finds:
On a recent visit with my boy’s godparents I was wowed by their godmothers ability to make music with a wine glass which I was apparently not capable of! It took about two hours of her showing me how to do it (and I may have accused her of witchery in the process) before finally I figured it out! When I saw these Musical Wine Glasses marked with the musical scale I immediately thought of her!
So now you know my secret source for awesome unique gifts…hop over to Uncommoon Goods and let me know what you’d buy there! And also let me know what you think of the new kitchen compared to the old one-am I the only one who thinks the old one was so much prettier??
