Healthy Cake Batter Smoothie

Every now and then I have a good idea.  It’s true.  I promise.

So a few months ago I was brainstorming while on a long drive and I thought to myself, “Melissa-you should make a smoothie that tastes like cake batter…everybody loves cake batter!” After convincing myself it wasn’t weird to talk to myself like that, I thought to go one further-come up with a cake batter smoothie that was not only tasty, but actually not bad for you too.  After a few trials I’ve come up with a tasty, healthy smoothie that never fails to satisfy my sweet tooth with it’s cake batter goodness but also doesn’t make me feel guilty afterwards!

A sweet smoothie that only feels like an indulgence, the perfect mix of sweet and healthy!

Serves: 1
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk
  • ½ cup vanilla Greek Yogurt
  • 3 tbsp yellow cake mix
  • ½-1 banana, sliced and frozen
  • sprinkles (optional)
  1. Combine everything other than sprinkles in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into glass and top with sprinkles if desired

A little tip-my little boys are constantly eating only half of a banana at a time so instead of wasting the rest a while back I started slicing their uneaten portions and throwing them in the freezer for smoothies-perfect for this recipe!

    Hmmm…this is an interesting smoothie flavor. I’m sure the kids will love it since I don’ t like them eating raw cake batter…will be a nice substitute.

    I made this smoothie tonight. It was alright. It probably would have been better if I used vanilla Greek yogurt instead of plain yogurt. Next time I make it, I will use vanilla yogurt to see if it makes a difference.
