One of my favorite things about Spring and early Summer are, of course, strawberries! If you follow along on Instagram you may have seen me post last week that our strawberry plants from last year are spreading and coming back full force in our raised garden bed in the backyard!

I was so excited for the berries we’ll hopefully get to enjoy before our move that I made one of my favorite recipes-strawberry iced tea!  Today I’m sharing the recipe for you to enjoy too!

Ingredients

This recipe calls for just a few simple ingredients:

  • family-sized tea bags
  • fresh strawberries
  • sugar
  • lemon juice
  • water

Step by step

  1. Like regular sweet tea, you’ll start by boiling 2 cups of water. I usually boil mine right in a glass measuring cup in the microwave for 2 minutes but you can do this on the stovetop too.
  2. After the water boils, add the tea bags and let steep for seven minutes. While you’re waiting, dice the strawberries and then puree them in a food processor or heavy-duty blender (affiliate link).
  3. Strain the juice from the pulp and discard the pulp. Remove the tea bags from the hot water, add the sugar and stir to dissolve.
  4. Simply add the juice and remaining cold water and pour over ice and enjoy!

Tips for best results

  • Use fresh, ripe juicy strawberries to maximize the flavor
  • If serving a crowd, use frozen strawberries to help keep the tea cold

FAQs

How do I store this tea?

Keep in the refrigerator up to a week. If you add frozen berries to the tea to keep it cold, be sure to remove them before storing so they don’t break down and make the tea cloudy

Can I use frozen berries to flavor the tea?

I don’t recommend frozen berries for this recipe. For the best flavor use bright, ripe berries to maximize the amount of juice you get.
