My husband is in the military. He works a lot. He has done three year long deployments in the last ten years and when he’s not deployed he is training to deploy and goes in the field for weeks at time. Now, all of that is our family’s choice and I am terribly proud of his profession; but that being said-it does leave me with the task of holding down the homefront and caring for our three boys by myself a lot. And I won’t lie-it’s really, really hard sometimes.
Last week was one of those times….I was feeling a little beat down. Nothing in particular was that bad, I just missed my husband and my oldest was doing the six year old sassy/test limits thing, and the younger two were very whiny and clingy and there was no adult conversation or just peace and quiet to have a cup of coffee. It was rough.
I decided I needed a little pick me up so I packed the boys up in the van and headed out for a little shopping at Sears to buy myself a little early Mother’s Day gift…something just for me. (We moms sometimes forget to treat ourselves, am I right? Always doing for others and putting ourselves last?)
I ended up picking out this perfect white tee (because you all know my love obsession with white t-shirts!) and a super cute necklace and bracelet to go with it. (and I got all three things for under $25 because I had $4 in Shop Your Way rewards!!)
I love how these three things can be put together in so many different ways by adding things from my closet I already have!
Or, if we’re being totally real, I’ll mostly just wear it with a pair of jeans because that’s my favorite everyday outfit-jeans and a white T! (I got a little baby photobomb during my photoshoot!)
It was only an hour of shopping (lugging three kids around no less) and $25 dollars spent but it went a long way into how I was feeling…taking the time to do a little something for me gave me the little pick me up to get a better attitude and reset so I could have fun with my boys (and we had a lot of fun this weekend as you may have seen if you follow me on Facebook or Twitter!)
