Storing a Leftover Bloomin Onion

Before we get into how to reheat your leftover blooming onion, let’s talk about how to store it when you bring it home from Outback Steakhouse or wherever your favorite bloomin onions are served.

Make sure your leftovers are not out for more than two hours between the restaurant and your fridge. When you get home, take the onion out of the to-go container and transfer it to an airtight container, along with the dipping sauce, before putting it in the fridge. Your leftover onion blossom will be good for up to 4 days.

How to Reheat a Bloomin Onion

The best way to reheat a blooming onion is any way that keeps the outside crispy and the inside juicy-I prefer the oven or air fryer.

I included reheating in the microwave, but that option is only best for convenience and speed since it’s the quickest way than it is for maintaining the fresh flavor and texture of bloomin’ onions, but you will lose some of the crispiness.

Of all the different ways to reheat a leftover bloomin’ onion, there are no rules. Just use the reheating method that sounds good to you!

How to Reheat a Bloomin Onion in the Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Place the onion on a baking sheet lined with foil and then lightly wrap the onion in aluminum foil.
  3. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Turn the onion over and bake for another 8-10 minutes until the onion is heated through and lightly crisp.
  5. Carefully remove the foil and serve.

How to Reheat a Bloomin Onion in the Air Fryer

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F.
  2. Cut the bloomin onion in half and place it in the air fryer.
  3. Set the air fryer timer for 10 minutes.
  4. Flip the bloomin onion halfway through the cooking time.
  5. When the timer is done, remove the bloomin onion and enjoy.

How to Reheat a Bloomin Onion in a Frying Pan

  1. Preheat your frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add a tablespoon or two of olive oil to the pan.
  3. Cut your bloomin onion into slices, and place them in the hot pan.
  4. Cook the slices for approximately 4-5 minutes, flipping them over and stirring as needed.
  5. Serve the bloomin onion as soon as it’s hot and crispy. Enjoy!

How to Reheat a Bloomin Onion in the Microwave

  1. Place the bloomin onion on a microwave safe plate.
  2. Heat the bloomin onion in the microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes.
  3. Flip the bloomin onion over and heat for an additional 1 1/2 minutes.
  4. Let the bloomin onion rest for 1 minute before serving.

How to Reheat a Bloomin Onion in a Deep Fryer

  1. Preheat the deep fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Carefully place the bloomin onion in the oil and cook for 3-4 minutes or until the bloomin onion is golden-brown and heated through.
  3. Using tongs, remove the bloomin onion and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
  4. Let the bloomin onion cool for 1-2 minutes before serving.

Tips for best results

  • Use the microwave method as a last resort since it won’t give you the best results. You can place a paper towel or two under the bloomin onion to soak up some of the grease as the onion warms up so it won’t be as soggy.
  • In the oven or air fryer, use a wire basket or rack to elevate the leftover bloomin onion so the grease can drip away.
  • When you use deep frying to reheat your crispy onion blossom, make sure to keep a close eye on it. An already deep-fried onion will be browned before you even put it in for reheating, which means it will burn easily and quickly. This can be a great option but only use it if you like a darker, crispier batter.
  • When you reheat in a frying pan, make sure you separate all the onion petals and make sure they’re in a single layer so they can heat individually.
