Welcome back to the Bring on Spring series! Yesterday we covered Spring Cleaning with a fun little printable and today we’re covering giving your wardrobe a little freshening up just in time for warmer weather!
Okay, if you’re one of those people that always looks pulled together and perfectly dressed, you can go ahead and take off reading the blog today.
But maybe you’re not that person.
Maybe you’re a little bit like me and life gets busy, or things feel a little down and you decide maybe it’s just not worth it to put any effort into your outfit today. Maybe a few extra pounds came into the picture over the holidays and those favorite jeans just aren’t looking so hot so you figure you might as well stay in sweats. Maybe the kids are wearing you down and you figure they are the only ones who see you all day anyways so why bother trying to look nice.
Does any of that sound familiar?
Quite a few of those things apply to me and Spring is the perfect time of year to get a fresh start and decide that even if you’re tired, even if you’ve got the winter blues, even if you haven’t lost those last ten pounds-you are worth looking nice, you are worth a little bit extra effort!
Updating your wardrobe and polishing your look doesn’t have to require high heels and fancy clothes…it’s about taking a few minutes to get out of the yoga pants and into some jeans (bootcut are usually the most flattering!) Taking a moment to add a scarf or necklace to compliment your clothes, slipping into a nice ballet flat instead of old sneakers.
To show you how easy it is to spruce up your wardrobe with accessories, I’ve taken one wardrobe basic- a plain white shirt-and created ten different ways to dress it up!
Adding a sandal or ballet flat can dress up jeans. A scarf or necklace adds interest up top, adding layers with a jacket or sweater give texture and depth-taking the time to add the finishing touches to an outfit with a bracelet or nice bag gives it interest and a much more polished appearance.
Where can you find inspiration for your outfits? I like to find one piece that I love and use it to inspire me-whether it be a cute shoe, pretty scarf, or piece of jewelry. The other day I saw this gorgeous Leaf Necklace and Gold Bangle at Fragments and I loved them immediately. I thought they could easily be paired with a simple cotton sundress to glam it up. Add metallic sandals and a leather belt and bag and the look is complete!
So what are some must-have updates for Spring? I recommend chunky jewelry in bright colors-a cuff or bib necklace, bright or metallic sandals and flats, a bright scarf-aim for multicolored scarves to get the most bang for your buck so they coordinate with more outfits, a big bag in a neutral leather or bright color helps contain your on the go essentials and can punch your outfit up a notch. This spring is all about color so step outside your comfort zone and brighten it up!

So what do you think? Can you join me in making that extra effort to steer clear of the yoga pants this Spring? Can we commit together to take a few extra minutes to add a little something special to our outfits at least a few days a week?
Thanks for stopping by!
