Today’s guest post comes all the way from the UK courtesy of the folks over at Tesco, they are here offering some simple tips for keeping your home clean and organized despite a busy lifestyle!
It’s not easy when you feel like you’re splitting yourself between work, the kids and your household. Parents have busier lifestyles than ever these days and it’s no surprise that housework often gets pushed further down the list of priorities. To save yourself from that increasingly long to-do list, take a look at some of these tips to maintain a tidy environment at home.
Clean as you go. When you’re rushing round taking the kids to sports clubs or trying to get dinner ready, cleaning is the furthest thing from your mind. But setting aside a few ten minute slots a day for different areas of the house can keep you afloat. So sweep the Dyson vacuum around the lounge one day, wipe the bathroom down the next. You can help yourself in really small ways, just by keeping a sponge next to the sink so it’s there when you need it.
Choose a different drawer or cupboard to de-clutter every day. The idea is to tidy gradually so as not to swamp yourself with a mammoth task when you don’t have time. The same goes for chores. So make your bed as soon as you leave it in the morning, load the washing machine when you get home from work and get the whole family involved in a quick tidy of the living areas every night. Waking up to clear surfaces and extra floor-space is definitely worth it.
As far as meals go, get organized and plan your weekly meals on a Sunday night, so that you can do a full grocery shop just once a week and avoid last-minute dinner panic in the evening. You could even get some preparation out of the way in the morning, such as chopping veg or defrosting meat.
You’ll probably find that it’s much easier to stay on top of things when you don’t leave it all for the weekend. This said, you’ll be able to enjoy a bit more free time and the chance to chill out with your partner and the kids before the week gets going again.
