Office/Craft Room Plan

Recently my two older boys (who are 4 and 6) decided they wanted to share a room.  With my four year old’s old room empty, I have convinced my husband that it should be my craft room/office.  (He was not hard to convince-he hates my “stuff” being all over the house all the time!)  Here is the room now:

Right now I don’t feel like painting but I think eventually I’d like to add crown molding and do a pale gray paint on the walls.  But seriously-not any time soon!

I want the space to be pretty and feminine since it’s an area just for me in this house full of boys.  It also needs to be functional, with lots of storage and workspace.  That table on the ground above is our old kitchen table and I’m thinking of floating it in the middle of the room as my work surface for crafting.  Here is my mood board for the room:

Screen Shot 2013-01-17 at 11.10.35 AM I want it to be mainly neutral (as usual!) so I can pop in whatever colors I want in the accessories. I’d also love metallic accents.  I want an armoire or something similar for storage with cabinets for hiding the ugly stuff and open display for the pretty stuff! I would also like a writing desk for my laptop as a blogging area.  An area rug and chandelier are in my future as well, but I’m not quite sure what kind just yet.  Gray striped curtains are a must for me too-I think they’ll be the big statement of the room…I’ll probably DIY those if I can.

So there you have it, my plan.  Hold me accountable people! Hopefully I can get this space finished (on a minimal budget) in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sounds like a great plan. I’m actually going to be working on transforming my spare room into a functional room instead of a room full of boxes and a bed so I’d love to see your progress as you get going!

Thanks Heather! It actually seems like a lot of home decor bloggers have all boys-maybe that’s why we “need” that creative outlet!

OMgosh – we are on the same mental page again! Except my room is an office/craft/library/reading room nightmare. It is in total disarry and is in the process of being rearrange/organized so that I can just walk in there. I will hold you accountable, if you will do like wise for me. Just wish my camera was working so I could take b/4 and after pictures. Of course, I would not publicly post the b4 for anyone out of total embarrasment!

  7. I so need an extra room! I love the mood board! Those curtains need to live with me:)

My husband was quick to agree this should be my space-he hates all my “stuff” all over the house, I think he just wants to be able to shut the door on it!
