I’ve tried in the past to plan out my meals and have failed miserably. I always forget something at the store and end up going three times a week to pick up the forgotten item (and then make a few impulse buys) or I don’t plan specifically enough and get caught at 5pm knowing I’m making chicken but having no idea what kind. One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to get on top of meal planning and try to save money on groceries as well so when I was recently offered the chance to review the eMeals meal planning system and hopped at the chance.
When you sign up for eMeals you are prompted to select the store where you shop, your family size, and what kind of meals you like-they have options like Classic, Low Fat, Paleo, Gourmet, and more. Then, each Wednesday you are sent a full seven day dinner plan with a coordinating shopping list. (You can add lunch and breakfast options too!) They coordinate the meals with the store sales which helps with savings!
The first two weeks I was on the Classic Walmart program-I made things like Chicken Alfredo, Peachy Chicken Picante, and Creamy Sausage n’ Pasta. My husband was pretty happy about all the new meals we tried-I tend to get in a rut and cook the same things over and over. I did have to adjust some things-I opted for the family plan since we are a family of five but our boys are 1, 4, and 6 and don’t eat much so I ended up taking a day out of my plan to eat leftovers!
For my third week I changed over to the Low Fat option. I was expecting the meals to get a little more boring but I was wrong-Greek Pita Pizzas, Chicken Tetrazzini, and Spicy Shrimp Pasta were on the menu!
Overall I couldn’t be happier with eMeals: my grocery bill has gone down, my family is enjoying all of the new recipes we are trying, and I don’t have those frantic “What-am-I-going-to-cook?” moments each evening!
If you’d like to try eMeals you’re in luck-you can use the code NEWYEAR for 15% off of any plan!
They are also giving one of my readers a three month subscription for free ($21 value)! If you want to go ahead and subscribe or already use eMeals, please enter anyways, they will add three months to your current subscription if you win!
Just use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter, I’ll choose a winner on Monday! Good luck!
Thanks for stopping by!

I am a serious meal planner, the secret is to make your plan, then your list and make it a weekly habit! You will see the benefits in a short time! This looks like a good way to get started! Just remember to leave yourself a little flexibility!

Good tip Jenna, I tried to be exact before and I think that’s why I always quit before!
