The $10 Wrapping Challenge!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I was recently challenged by the folks over at Dollar General Gift Center to show my Christmas wrapping prowess on the frugal budget of $10.  Never one to turn down a dare I accepted!

Ten dollars goes a long way at Dollar General so I was able to get quite a bit of wrapping supplies.  I bought two rolls of wrapping paper, two sets of specialty bows, boxes, tissue paper, two rolls of ribbon, and a little trio of glittery present-shaped ornaments. (Psst…you can find Dollar General on Facebook here!)

My inspiration came when I found these two rolls of ribbon.  I fancy myself a bit of a ribbon snob but this was the good stuff! Especially that amazing glittery ribbon.  When I found the polka dot and foil wrapping paper I knew the look I was going for!

I love that I was able to find the basics (boxes and tissue paper to pack the interior of my gift-in this case jammies for my boys to open on Christmas Eve) as well as all the fancy stuff to make the wrapped presents look extra special!

Seriously, I love the opposing polka dots and blingy sliver! I attached the ornaments from the smaller presents as a little something extra! Obviously I could have wrapped many, many more presents with the amount of supplies I bought but being the procrastinator I am this year, I’m still not finished shopping!

Have you finished shopping? What kind of wrapper are you-basic and fast, or blingy and fancy? Where do you shop for wrapping supplies?

I think those look great! Every year I say that I will try to make pretty presents and then I end up just doing basic, fast wrapping. I am definitely going to pick up some of that ribbon though because I love it, and it’s cheap!

Thanks Leah! I love finding pretty ribbon-usually you can’t find it for that cheap, I was really surprised! Thanks for stopping by to leave a comment!

Love the wrapping job you did Melissa and as usual your posting is right on time. I need to replenish my own wrapping supplies, and usually forget that Dollar General carries everything I need. Slap me upside my head please, and remind me occasionally that the Dollar General carries so many things – from gifts to cleaning supplies!

I forget too Terri! My Dad moved to a small town where the only store is Dollar General and I always am amazed at how much they actually have in that store! Their Christmas section had so much!

Thanks Betty! My Dad lives in a super small town without even a grocery store, all they have is a Dollar General and I was so surprised when he first moved there and I realized how much they had in that store! It didn’t occur to me until the challenge to buy my gift wrap there but I was pleasantly surprised at what they had!

Love the polka dots. I didn’t know Dollar General had such cute stuff. Going to have to pay them a visit. Thanks for sharing.

I actually don’t usually purchase wrapping supplies. I’m one of those people who carefully unwraps presents. I re-use wrapping paper and bags from others. I also use newspaper, old maps, or packing paper to wrap things. I decorate them with yarn, ribbon, glue, or even with markers and paint.

Great ideas Tiffany! When I was younger I used the comics but I read the paper online now! I love the map idea especially, I may have to use that one!
