The Perfect Hostess Gift

You know how the holidays come up and all of a sudden your calendar is full?

You have Christmas parties and family get-togethers filling your planner and presents to buy, gifts to wrap, decorations to put up….

On top of my regular gift shopping, I like to try to take gifts to the hostesses of the parties we attend this time of year as well.  I usually just grab a bottle of wine but this year I had the chance to shop at World Market to create a hostess gift and I picked from their Life of Pi Shop to give a worldly feel to my gift basket.

Have you seen Life of Pi? I haven’t yet-it came out in theaters Nov. 21st; it’s the story of an Indian boy named Pi, a zookeeper’s son, who survives a disaster at sea and is thrown into an epic journey. While adrift in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, he forms an amazing and unexpected connection with a Bengal tiger.

World Market has an extensive collection of items inspired by the book and movie and they immediately caught my eye when I was shopping last weekend.

I found this adorable jewelry box and these crazy awesome silver bangles right off the bat and knew they had to be mine.  I picked up a copy of the book because my hostess loves to read, as well as a Life of Pi ornament as well.  (Little known fact: I was a pre-veternary/animal sciences major in my undergrad and did a summer internship as a large cat keeper at the Cincinnati Zoo one summer-amazing experience and I’m very partial to tigers because of it!!)

To package my super cool Life of Pi themed basket I headed to Word Market’s gift section.  I love this part.  They have baskets, fillers, plastic wraps, everything you could need to complete your gift-all in one spot.  And affordable too.

World Market is also hosting a Life of Pi Sweepstakes-so hop on over to enter, I’d love it if one of my readers won!!

I want to have you to a party at my house! What a great basket you made up. I won a life of Pi ornament in a contest a few weeks ago so I’m just waiting for it to arrive. I had no idea they have a whole collection around it though. Fun!

I thought about taking my four and five year old but I think the tiger parts I saw in the previews would be a little too intense for my four year old. It looks so good though!

I am hopiing to see Life of Pi over the holidays w/ my mother. If I am ever given a chance to go to the World Market, they will have to drag me out of there. So many great gift ideas, but I usually take hostess gifts that are specific to my hostess or host. Doesn’t matter if they are hand made or store bought, the gift needs to fit in to their lifestyle – anything from food to decor falls into that category.

I hear ya Terri! I could stay in World Market for hours. Unfortunately I usually do my shopping with my three little guys who don’t share my enthusiasm!
