A Very Tacky Christmas Party

This past Saturday my hubby and I went to a Cousin Eddie/Tacky Christmas themed party.

{Am I the only one who doesn’t watch those National Lampoon’s movies? My husband had to explain to me who cousin Eddie was!}

We were super excited-it was the first time we left all three boys with a sitter in the evening so the prospect of a kid-free evening was an added bonus!

I intended to make my own dress like my bloggie buddy Virginia over at Live, Love, DIY but things have been so busy I just didn’t have time.  Instead I picked up some store bought Christmas attire for us and we pulled it together!

I wanted to bring some appetizers to the party but knew I wasn’t going to have time that day to cook so I went on the hunt for something fast but still tasty to bring with me.  I found these Tyson Any’Tizers Bruschetta Chicken & Bacon and Holiday Bread Bowls that I knew would be perfect to take to the party.

They were ready in less than fifteen minutes and turned out great!

Don’t they look scrum-delicious?

Here’s a fuzzy iphone pic of our outfits before we left for the party.  The older boys kept telling us we looked “weird” and asking us why we were going to such a “weird party!”

I convinced my husband to lose the turtleneck on the way to the party so he went with just the vest…imagine my surprise when TWO other guys at the party had the exact same sweater vest! And another person had his on without a shirt but his wife obviously had her stuff together more than me because his had battery powered lights on it!!

The Bruschetta and Bread Bowls were a big hit too! I love that they took me so little time to prep!

Have you gone to any themed parties this year? Do you make your own dishes to share from scratch or do you do you take shortcuts like me? Have you tried the Tyson Bruschetta or Bread Bowls yet?

      Oh man, I feel like I’m the only one who doesn’t remember everything from that movie-I’ve seen it but never “get” references to it! I hope you had a merry Christmas Jenny!

    Those little bread bowls look incredible! I tried to get here before Christmas but didn’t make it…hope your day was wonderful. We are hunkered down under blizzard warnings. Sitting here with my laptop trying to catch up! Best wishes for 2013! ~Ann

      Thanks Kristin! The bruschetta was addictive and the bread bowls were perfect for how chilly it was outside! We had a ton of fun at the party!
