Gobble, gobble! Welcome to November-can you even believe it? This year has flown by! It is amazing to me that we’re already in the holiday season.
Yesterday I took down the Halloween decor and started prepping the house for Thanksgiving. I can’t help but be a little sentimental this time of year, thankful that we are one of the lucky military families that will be spending the holidays together this year…and looking back to this time last year when my husband was deployed.
That being said, I’ve been ambracing the holiday decorating and decided to make a simple little craft with my son recently. My four year old and I decided to make some festive little turkeys out of some materials we had on hand. I had some wood scraps in the garage and since I can’t throw anything away we gave them a little makeover courtesy of some popsicle sticks and made ourselves some little gobblers.
Bonus: they make great placecard holders too!
Are you ready for Thanksgiving? Dare I say Christmas? I’ll be sharing some recipes a bit more than usual this month to get ready for Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas baking!

That is so adorable Melissa!!! I have follen in love w/ your creatrions, from the moment HT came into my life and I found you on there. Yes, it is Novemeber, but no – you can’t mention December and Christmas yet. At the rate this year flew by, I am going to use other people’s explanation: “The older you get, the faster the years go by.” In that case, and at this rate, I will be around 110 years of age in three more years.
Seriously though, I can’t wait to see what you have going for Christmas!!!!! I will be out of town, so I am not decorating.for Christmas. One day, I will again….
Oh Terri, I’m so glad we connected through HT! You know you can still decorate for Xmas if you’re going out of town!
I’m trying to hold off on Xmas posts but honestly, they’ll be popping up soon…I’m just so excited to get started!
I will put out a couple little things that I have collected and were gifts over the years for Christmas. I am not going to do a tree and all that though b/c I don’t know how long I will be gone for. I miss having Christmas in my house, but it is easier to all meet at my younger sister’s where little one’s expect Santa to arrive. It is the 1/2 way point between my house and my parents east coast house in Annapolis. My folks winter in AZ!!
I can’t wait to see what iis floating around in that creative head of yours – and yes, thank goodness for HT and “my family” there.
Another wonderful, creative and zaney idea. I am not ready for Thanksgiving, let alone Christmas…What happened to the year? Where did it go?
Adorable! and so simple…pinned!

Love your placecards Melissa – so so cute! Thanks for linking up to “It’s a Party!” Don’t you love making crafts with stuff you already have on hand! I am sure your son had a blast making them too! I used to make a lot of crafts with my boys out of toilet paper rolls!! Inventive right?
