You Are My Sunshine Upcycled Wood Nursery Art

I have a secret…I’m a hoarder.  Well, I would be a hoarder if I didn’t have the most. organized. husband. ever. He keeps me in check, whether I want him to or not.   I’ve had some old staircase baby gates sitting in the garage since we moved to the new house in April.  Once I realized we weren’t mounting them to the stairs in the new house I tucked them away in the garage for future use.  When my little “upcycle” stash area started to overflow I tried to take them to Goodwill and can you believe my local Goodwill wouldn’t take them?? They don’t take any baby stuff at all “for liability reasons.” So back to the garage went the gates because you know, it would be a waste to throw them away!

Then finally a couple of weeks ago when I was working on Tommy’s nursery update I had a vision! I used my circular saw to cut the ends off of the gate and made a panel with the slats.  Then I used Inspired By Charm’s Sunshine Art as my inspiration and made a cute little nursery sign!

Upcycled Wood You are my sunshine sign from baby gate

I think it turned out super cute but I’m on the fence about whether it will really fit with Tommy’s room or if I should list it in my Etsy shop.

What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by!

How did I not know you have an Etsy shop??! Your paintings are GORGEOUS!! I think you might need to keep this one for Tommy’s room though. It just seems so cheerful and perfect for what you have going on there. :)
