National Clean Out Your Garage Day

Did you know? How could you not? It’s National Clean Out your Garage Day!

Did you know nearly four in 10 people (39 percent) have tripped over an item in their garage, more than a quarter (27 percent) have hit an object when opening a vehicle door and 22 percent have accidentally hit something when parking? Yeah, not cool.

I’m one of those people that insists on parking in the garage so I need to keep it clear…I also use my garage a lot for all of my DIY projects so it has to stay organized too. I recently built my DIY Patterned Pegboard to help me keep my tools and DIY supplies organized and within reach.  I also installed some wall systems to get our yard tools off the ground and out of the way (helps to keep them out of reach for the little ones too!)

Want a little freebie to help you tame your garage mess? The folks at Ace Hardware and Quickie are joining The Lehigh Group, manufacturer of Crawford branded garage organization products to send one of my fatabulous readers a Garage Organization Kit filled with the following items: (ARV $83.16)

OOh my. We need this. Bad. Our garage is an absolute disaster area. I’m pretty sure it used to be a chicken coop at some point too, so it’s not really full of all the organizational bells and whistles. We really do intend to clean it out… one day! Maybe this will be the kick-start we need!

YES!!! We need this bad!!! We have 4 cars in the driveway and “0” cars in the garage! My youngest daughter just moved back home after 5 years in college and decided to take over the garage to “paint” 2 dressers, night stand, bookcase and vanity. This project has taken farrrrrr too long!! Do you think she will believe that there really IS a National Clean Out Your Garage Day??? I’ll give it a try tomorrow. Then there is what to do with all the boxes and plastic crates that recently was her apartment. So I really could use all the organization you have to offer!!

  3. Penelope says

Fun! Our garage is currently filled with closet components, but we do usually park both cars there. I have to admit I once tripped over the board I used to tell me when to stop the car and ripped off (violently) a whole toe nail. Gross! And Ouchy! Every bit of organization that can be gained in the garage is a must!

  4. Roberta Horn says

Messy??? Well, if you consider that you can’t even get in the door as it being messy… lol We live in an apartment with a detached garage and store EVERYTHING in there!!! UGH! I NEED these products to help me out a little!!!

  5. Laura Jacobson says

Its not too bad, but with the way we are facing, we get alot of wind and dirt that blows in. I really need help with organizing though!

  6. Emily Acker says

Oh my, it is so messy that – not only can it not hold A car, being a TWO car garage – but it’s hard for a person to even walk around in it! : /

My garage is a nightmare! With all of our summer stuff (which we are still using) and all of our fall stuff (which we are beginning to use) and all of our winter stuff (which we’ll be using soon), it’s a crazy mish mash of stuff!

My garage isn’t really messy…I back my Suburban into the middle of the garage every night…but it does need to be more organized. I have brooms & shovels & rakes in almost every corner!

Our garage is very messy and we have a basement that is equally messy. Plus we just had flooding in the basement, so it is very important to get it organized and things off the ground in case that happens again. We have a family of 5 (plus 3 cats and a guinea pig) so it gets quite messy!

  10. Kristie D. says

It’s only a little messy. But this could clear it all up. Good thing we only have one car!! kristiedonelson(at)gmail(dot)com Thank you.

  11. Tara O. says

My garage really isn’t too awful messy. We have a 2 car garage and can actually park 2 cars in there but we really do need to organize the lawn tools!

  12. Austin Baroudi says

It’s pretty messy in terms of the stuff that’s piled in there but most of the stuff is organized but I’d still say it’s pretty darn messy!

  13. Amanda Phillips says

Its pretty bad. We have an open carport type one where all tools and things get stored so we use it constantly for DIY crafts which means EVERYTHING gets put under there eventually!
