A while back I shared with you my No Sew Bench Cushion for my mudroom. I really loved how it turned out but the open storage under the bench seat was not working well for us-it was too cluttered and messy looking for my OCD tendencies.
Enter some thrifty finds and of course-spray paint! I found some large woven baskets that fit the cubbies perfectly at Michaels and snapped them up-they were on sale for $6 this week so if you want some hurry and buy them! They were given a couple quick coats of Krylon Dual Spray paint in Gloss Black.
After the spray paint they needed just a little extra something so I created the numbered tags with some scraps of burlap and chipboard numbers. I just folded the burlap into a rectangle and then folded in half, securing with hot glue. This gave it a little dimension so the tag stuck out a bit from the basket. The chipboard numbers were just spray painted white and hot glued to the tag.
Eventually each of the boys can have their own assigned basket but for now its a free for all! I don’t mind because at least its all contained and much more orderly looking!
Don’t forget-tomorrow the Craft Cuts giveaway is ending so hurry over and enter to win a $30 gift certificate!
Thanks for stopping by!

So cute, Melissa! I have so many of those baskets from Michael’s around the house, I couldn’t even tell you how many I own. At one point a few years ago they were on sale for like $3.50! Love you little burlap solution. It’s kind of cheating cause you just folded and hot glued, but they ended up looking like tags, so it looks like you went out of your way and did something extra special! Can’t wait til I have storage like this in my mudroom…. one day.

A little tip. I have some baskets underneath my coffee table, and I noticed they were scratching up the finish. You may want to add some felt pads to the bottom of your baskets so they don’t scratch your paint because I’m sure they will get lots of use in your mudroom.

Adding the addition of the burlap/number tags really did give the baskets dimension. Love your mudroom!

Love what you’ve done here. We don’t tend to have mud rooms in Australia but if I was ever to build a home I think I would try to encorporate one as they are a great place to store shoes, school bags and all the stuff that clutters up a house.

The baskets are perfect! I love the labels also. Love your whole space. Megan

Looks great. I especially like the wall paneling behind the bench. The baskets are great too.
