That being said, I was beyond stoked when I was chosen to try some great new toys from Leapfrog recently.
New toy = Occupied kids = Mommy gets productive!!
Leapfrog was kind enough to send me a couple of new toys from their Touch Magic for my four year old son Nash to try out. The first toy we tried was the Leapfrog Touch Magic Alphabet Bus.
I’ve had countless Leapfrog toys for my kids over the past five years and they are truly one of my favorite toy companies. What first struck me when I took the Alphabet Bus out of the box however was that it is incredibly lightweight and there are no traditional buttons-just a flat touch panel. It was very different than what I was expecting. Nash didn’t seem phased by it, he immediately started playing, using it just as he would a touchpad game on my phone or iPad. I guess I’m just behind the times!
The Alphabet Bus has three different modes-Learning, Alphabet, and Music and over 200 responses. While it is marketed for ages 2 and up I think the biggest benefits from this toy would be kids that don’t yet know their alphabet. Both of my boys already know their letters and phonics (thanks in no small part to numerous other Leapfrog toys!) Regardless both my four and five year olds were loving it-the boys actually {gasp} played nicely together without fighting because they were cracking each other up with the sounds the bus was making. And because it is so lightweight, even my eleven month old could play with it-pushing the piano keys to make music!
Since receiving the Alphabet Bus the boys have installed it in our van so its now passed between them each day on the way to and from dropping my oldest off at kindergarten. They really love the music mode the best and I think its going to be fantastic for teaching Tommy the alphabet and phonics as he gets older as well.
Overall I think the Touch Magic Alphabet Bus is a wonderful addition to our stash of learning toys and I think its going to get a ton of use from the little men for the foreseeable future! Thank you Leapfrog for providing this blogging Mommy numerous hours of peaceful DIY-time!
Stay tuned next week when I’ll share another toy Leapfrog sent the boys-this one is a big hit in more ways than one!
