Autumn Mantle

I finally broke down and put up our Autumn mantle decor…it dipped down into the 60s last weekend and I couldn’t resist! Plus college football starts Saturday and whats screams “Fall” more than that?!

I’m very happy with the way it turned out. For the last few years I have been trying to shop the sales just after the big holidays for clearance decor and it paid off with this mantle. The tiny pumpkins were a craft store clearance item and the vine pumpkin was from Target two years ago. The wheat stalks were leftovers from a wreath I made two years ago.

To make the banner I cut scraps of burlap runner and canvas to the desired size. I distressed the edges of the canvas by pulling the threads to give it a more rustic look. Then I spray painted some chipboard scrapbooking letters with oil rubbed bronze spray paint and hot glued it all together. Then I strung them up by threading jute through the holes in the burlap.

Melissa—very nicely done! I also like to find deals at the end of the season. When you pull them out the next year it’s almost like Christmas! I love the sparkle on the little pumpkins. The burlap bunting is really cute too. I might have to try that. Thanks for sharing.

Love the neutral colors of your mantle! I have these Tar-jay pumpkins too, love their texture! The banner is the icing on the cake and is a great way to use leftover pieces of material! Very inexpensive mantlescape you designed but looks so high-end boutiquish!! Great work :)
