Shopping Vacation in San Antonio

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of SAVE for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

One of my husband’s first assignments when he was commissioned into the Army was Fort Hood, TX.  I’ve never been to Texas myself but he often talks about it and tells me about his adventures there.  It is on our short list of places we might want to one day retire to.  I’ve heard there was great shopping in San Antonio and I’d love to go there on vacaiton just he and I when our boys are just a bit older so when I heard about SAVE – San Antonio Vacation Experience I hopped on the chance to learn more about the San Antonio area and things to do there as well as see the great deals offered.

With more than $600 in savings to theme parks, animal adventures, top shops and historic tours, plus great deals on hotels, SAVE is defintely worth its weight in gold to anyone planning to visit San Antonio this summer. There is a Deal Map so you can search for deals by location around the San Antonio area, numerous Limited Time Offers, even a mobile app you can download onto your iPhone! Best of all SAVE offers deals at every price point-budget through luxury.

As I was looking through the SAVE website and talking with my husband about the dream vacation we’ll one day get to take I was definitely thinking about the shopping.  We don’t often get out without our children with us and shopping solo is one thing I do miss at times about life pre-kids! Here are some of the great shopping destinations I’d hit:

Market Square: Historic Market Square is the largest Mexican marketplace north of the Rio Grande that offers visitors a festive setting featuring over 100 shops and boutiques for clothing, folk art, jewelry, pottery, textiles, working artisans/craftsman, the official Latino Museum of Texas and special cultural events and festivals. Plus SAVE offers a 10% off coupon for any purchase over $20 at Market Square-I would definitely take advantage of that!

San Marcos Premium Outlets-Uh, hello Restoration Hardware, Pottry Barn, Williams Sonoma, Crate and Barrel-to name just a few of the amazing home decor outlets there! I’d be all over this (and would probaly hit up the clothing stores too I’m sure!) SAVE has a VIP printable coupon book to take with you to the outlets so its like savings on top of savings!

Shops in La Villita La Villita is the original settlement of San Antonio. Now the historic village is home to shops of artisans, boutiques, galleries, restaurants and numerous events. SAVE has a free gift with purchase coupon available here.  I love shopping boutiques and artisan shops for unique finds for the house and my husband and I are huge art gallery junkies so I imagine we could spend a whole day here!

The Shops at La Cantera is home to many luxury retailers and restaurants including Anthropologie and The Cheesecake Factory.  Those are two places I’ve always wanted to go but have never been to so I’d have to go there! SAVE offers a free Premier Passport for The Shops online.

Since we’re talking about a vacation without the kids, we’d probably splurge and stay somehwere like the Westin Riverwalk-SAVE offers discounted reservations there starting at just $119 and it looks to be in the centr of it all.  They serve Venezuelan chocolates at check-in…sounds like my kind of place!

To finish off my dream San Antonio vacation I think the hubby and I would hit up the Alamo Helicopter Tour.  SAVE has a 10% off coupon and it would be just the kind of exciting thing to make our vacation memorable!

Sounds like a fantabulous vacation doesn’t it?? Back to reality-dinner needs to be made and children bathed-but if you are lucky enough to have a chance to visit San Antonio soon be sure to visit SAVE – San Antonio Vacation Experience first to or download the app so you can get all the great deals they offer.  You can follow them on Twitter as well at @SAVEinSA for updates on deals, limited time offers and ideas to help plan your trip!

“We don’t often get out without our children with us and shopping solo is one thing I do miss at times about life pre-kids!”—I can totally relate to this. Shopping can be therapeutic and exciting. But with kids in tow, it can be a disaster. I’m so attracted to the various shopping centres you mentioned. Also, with the Alamo Helicopter Tour, I think San Antonio sounds like a great place for a second honeymoon. Thanks for this post, Melissa.
