Frugal Framed Art

I needed some fast art to hang in the house but didn’t have any photos or prints on hand.  I found some frames at Walmart for only $12 that included mats and I knew they would work for the space (and they definitely worked for my budget!) But what to put in them? I didn’t have the budget to go buy an expensive print for this project with everything else I have going on so I had to improvise!

Can you believe these prints were free? Seriously! I found these free-use sailboat pictures from Geek Philosopher and here and saved them to my computer.  I uploaded them into PicMonkey and made them Black and White with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Then I printed them out on my regular old printer on regular old paper.  They. Look. Awesome.  I love them! You would never be able to tell that it was just a regular piece of paper once they were in the frame.  Its a perfect trick for areas where you just want some decor up on the walls but don’t have a lot of money to spend-or if you like to change up your wall decor a lot like I do!

Check back tomorrow to see where I hung these guy-they made a big impact on a neglected space in my home!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. frugal and free…my favorite!

  2. These would work great in my newly redecorated bath. I went for a nautical theme but couldn’t figure out what to do for wall art. Everything is so expensive and I’d rather not blow the budget on art alone.

  3. What a great idea! I have a bunch of frames that are just sitting around. Now I know what to do with them. Thanks!

I was eyeballing prints like these at a store but was too cheap to buy them. Thx for the idea and link!!

  1. [...] Quite honestly we have only lived in one house with stairs and when we did decorating was not a priority.  In our new house however, the stair landing is easily seen when guests enter the house and it looked very neglected.  The landing itself is a nice size but with the boys running around (not to mention a 100lb dog) I didn’t want to put a table or shelf there-it would most definitely get run over.  The space also isn’t quite wide enough for a bench seat under the window.  I decided to stick with window treatments and a couple of thrifty nautical pictures!
