This isn’t my normal type of project but I had to share it. When we went down to South Carolina to catch our cruise we stopped by my Dad and Stepmom’s house and I had the sudden realization that my obsessive upcycling and thrifty craftiness must be genetic! Meet my Dad, Mike.
My Dad is seriously one of the most sweet and kind people you will ever meet (although his biker-esque exterior sometimes leads people to think otherwise!) He is a doting father and grandfather and loves his family and all things wildlife as well. He recently started a new hobby of keeping quail and had these precious quail chicks to show the boys when we got to his house:
As I was standing in his yard admiring the chicky-cuteness I realized his coop was an upcycled crib! Duh! How cute! Dad took an old drop-side crib and transformed it with scraps from his workshop to make a cozy home for his new pets!
Who knew upcycling was in my blood? Another great thing about my Dad…he thrifts like nobody’s business. Which is great for me since its hard for me to go thrift shopping with three littles in tow…plus he makes amazing finds for his loving daughter, like this little treasure I’m giving you a sneak peek of today:
Could that be a map on that vintage desk? Hmmm, could be perfect for a little boy’s room to go along with my Wood Map Wall Art! Stay tuned for a makeover coming up!!
On a side note, please say prayer for our ten month old Tommy, he’s come down with a nasty virus and has been in the ER…he’s close to becoming dehydrated and I’m hoping he’ll start drinking something so we don’t have to go back to the hospital.
Thanks for stopping by!

That is a neat idea. I’d love more detailed description of how he made it though.
