When we were {finally} finishing the last of the unpacking in the garage I came across two lighter wood stools that almost ended up in the Goodwill pile-I really don’t use this color wood in any of our decorating anymore.
At the last minute I decided to give them a coat of leftover paint from my IKEA Bookcase Makeover and lo and behold I fell back in love with them!
I think they look perfect in the kitchen-I’m so glad I decided to give them a second chance!
Incidentally when our house was being built the builders put our kitchen island in the wrong place. It is about 15″ too close to the back wall you see above. We tried to live with it for a while but finally asked them to go ahead and move it…it made the kitchen so narrow that I couldn’t open the cabinets with the dishwasher open which made it hard to unload the dishwasher, etc. It also seemed silly to feel like I was in a galley kitchen when we have so much space.
So as you read this they are tearing up my kitchen down to the slab to move everything-even the pipes and electrical have to be repositioned. Wish me luck, its going to take a week at least for the work to be done and I’ll have no sink or dishwasher, let alone trying to keep the kids out of the mess!
I’ll post an update as it progresses!
Thanks for stopping by!

The stools turned out wonderfully. What a difference a coat of paint makes!
How did your day being stuck with the boys upstairs go?
Katie they are driving me nuts stuck upstairs! The plumbers are jack hammering the slab today and it’s rainy outside so they are bouncing off the walls. I’m hoping to get them to a park this afternoon if it stops raining to let them blow off steam!
