Last year while my husband was deployed I opened an Etsy shop selling jewelry. It ended up being a fairly short-lived endeavor….making jewelry in quantity was too labor-intensive for me with the three littles at home. (I can blog while nursing a baby, not so much with making jewelry!) Here are some of my favorite things I made for my shop:
I love these little resin flowers-known as cabochons. They are colorful and whimsical and brighten any outfit-especially for those like me who are accessory challenged! AND they are super easy to make! Here is all you need to know to make your own cabochon jewelry.
I have found the best source of cabochons flowers, ring bases, and hair pin bases to be Etsy. Search “cabochon” in the Supplies section and you will come up with dozens of suppliers. Be aware that many are shipping from China and while the prices are very cheap, you may wait 3-4 weeks for your products.
Pick Your Plum also has great deals on jewelry making supplies quite often. I’ve bought hair pins and cabochons through them and been very happy with them. (Disclosure-I am a Pick Your Plum affiliate but all opinions are my own.)
I have purchased my necklace chains and bases at my local craft store or Walmart-they have large selections and you can use a coupon at the craft stores to make it even cheaper. While you are there pick up a tube of E-6000 adhesive-this stuff is fabulous and a tube will last you for-ev-ah!
Now that you have your supplies it is too easy! Just mix and match! Be sure to follow the directions on the adhesive-apply to each surface and let dry to tacky about ten minutes before putting the pieces together. Someone {ahem} had to learn the hard way to read the directions first!
Okay, so now you’re all set to make your own cabochon jewelry but here’s the best part! I have THREE grab bags of jewelry and jewelry-making supplies left over from my shop to give away! (Sorry for the phone picture!)

My favorite thing to wear is necklaces. I also really like rings, I just don’t change them up very often since I am usually wearing my wedding band/engagement ring and another ring my hubby got me.
