With our move happening in late April this year and our backyard a work in progress I have had to accept that I am limited to container gardening this Spring. I wanted the boys to learn about plants as part of our homeschooling so after we were settled in the new house we were off the the garden center to pick out plants. To my surprise the boys really wanted to plant vegetables rather than just flowers as I had initally planned. We ended up picking up a tomato plant, the boys say we’re going to make spaghetti when the tomatos are ready!
Once we were home I got to thinking about caring for the tomato plant (which I have never grown before) and I realized that I just don’t feel comfortable using my usual plant food on something that we are eventually going to eat. I know that it is technically “safe” but I spend a lot of time and effort into making sure my boys eat organic foods (especially with the baby now starting solids!)
I started researching organic plant food and was lucky enough to find out about Whitney Farms organic plant food.
Whitney Farms® has over 25 years of leading gardening experience-their organic plant foods are easy to apply and contain no additives or artificial ingredients. I’m excited to use Whitney Farms organic plant foods on our tomato plant and other vegetables we grow this summer so that we can have big, beautiful veggies with none of the concerns about the possibility of dangerous chemicals on our food.
With any luck we’ll all have tomatoes like this before too long!
