First I’d like to thank everyone that left a comment or sent an email about my post the other day on mothering struggles….it was so nice to know I’m not the only one! As I mentioned previously, I feel that both the big boy’s space and day to day functioning has turned chaotic. Take a gander at this mess:
I know to some it may not seem too horrible but for us this is just too much for smooth daily activity, not to mention it’s totally unsafe for the baby to be in the playroom at all with all those small toys all over the floor.
Ugh. Even just looking at these pictures to post them just now stresses me out!
Sunday morning first thing I decided to clear it out with the help of my oldest. We cleared everything out (I stored it in the closet for now, with a child-proof knob protector!) Once everything was cleared I took a few carefully chosen items out and put them on display. Please excuse the fuzzy pictures, the good camera is already packed so this is as good as its going to be for a few weeks!
Incidentally, does anyone know how to clean microfiber without leaving water stains? This would be invaluable information to me at this point with that couch!!
It isn’t a huge transformation but it is definitely a less stressful environment for both me and the kids. Once we move we’ll be giving each boy their own room and eliminating the playroom totally. I’m hoping this will reduce some of the sibling rivalry and aggression we’ve seen lately as well as reduce the toy overload of having everything for three kids all thrown in one room. In just the few days since I cleared out the room I have noticed a drastic improvement in our days already. I can only imagine that it will continue to improve if I can manage to maintain it!
