Making Your Own Birdfeeders!

Last week on Pinterest I saw this great idea for making your own birdfeeders. I knew this would be a great one for my boys to do so while their Nana was in town this past weekend we gave it a shot!

To make them we needed gelatin, bird seed, wax paper, twine, and cookie cutters.  My cookie cutter selection apparently needs some work though because we ended up with an interesting variety of shapes as you’ll see!

I boiled 1/2 cup of water and added two packets of gelatin, stirring until dissolved.  I let it cool then added 1.5 cups of bird seed.  We then put our cookie cutters on the wax paper and filled them halfway with the mixture.  I added a knotted loop of twine and then we finished filling the cookie cutters up.  Ours were ready to go about 6 hours later!

We ended up with a star and tree (Christmas cookie cutters!); ghost (Halloween); two dinosaurs and a helicopter!!

Thanks for stopping by!
