My husband is seriously the most organized man in the world. No exaggeration. While I’m no slob or anything, it is practically impossible for me to keep things as orderly as he would have them if he was here and not deployed. Add on top of that moving our whole life across town while pregnant and things are pretty much cluttered around the house these days.
Lately, be it a combination of nesting or preparing for him to come home on leave, I have been having MAJOR organizational urges. Today I decided to tackle under my side of the bathroom vanity. Now, don’t judge, but here is my before:
For some reason I’ve always tried to organize in various little travel bags-you know, the kind you get at the makeup counter with the freebies? Not really the best method in all honestly. I don’t think that this is the worst bathroom clutter I’ve seen but I can just picture my husband quietly shaking his head as I dig around looking for something, so it was time for a change.
I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a bunch of these little plastic caddies. I like them because they were a cute color (and cheap) and had a handle (and cheap)…and did I mention that they were only a dollar each??
I sorted out all the
mess items under the sink and put my most used things in one of the front buckets so I have one to grab in the morning while getting ready and the rest are sorted by category. The end result is much more aesthetically pleasing and will save me a lot of time down the road when looking for something. **I also checked the expiration dates on everything I came across while organizing-there were some things that definitely needed to be trashed!**
I was surprised that there was actually even empty space once I got everything corralled under there! Perhaps that means I can go shopping?
I have a lot of other areas in the house to de-clutter before hubby gets home next month. I really want to make the house as organized as I can so that he doesn’t feel the need to do it himself during the short two weeks he is home.
Next up…the pantry (its oh-so-bad!) Stay tuned!
