Home Organization

Like many Moms I like to keep a Home Organization binder.  I started this about 2 years ago after reading the book Steady Days.  I found that by keeping myself organized I was able to accomplish a lot more in a LOT less time, and I generally enjoyed my days more.  So why is it that when I moved last year (from Kansas to North Carolina) that I stopped keeping my binder?  I’m not sure what happened but somehow with all the change it fell by the wayside, along with my general feeling of well-being.

It took until we moved again just last month (just across town this time) for me to realize I needed to get that binder back in action and fast! I pulled the poor abandoned thing out of the depths of my desk and got to work on a fast revamp of its contents.

I used this adorable printable from TaiDye for my front cover-a reminder to keep prayer at the forefront of my mind through my day. I also created a Fruits of the Spirit printable for the back cover-as these are always characteristics that I try to encourage in both myself and my sons.

As for the interior of the binder I created a Weekly and Monthly Chore list and laminated them so that I can mark completed tasks with an overhead marker and reuse them over and over.  There is also a Weekly To Do List, a Library List for me to keep track of the books we check out and their due dates, Dates to Remember reference list, and a Grocery List.  As an extra thought I created a “Things I am Grateful for” list where I can quickly jot down the small blessings in my life, special moments with my family, or anything else I am grateful for.

My binder is far from finished but I already feel better having gotten back on track. It was so helpful before, and with a deployed husband and a third little boy on the way I really need to do everything I can to stay organized and “on top” of caring and managing our home and family needs.

Here are some wonderful sites with printables and other great tips to help you get started if you’d like to make your own binder:
