Five Minute Banner

In an effort to make an effort (hard to motivate sometimes at this stage of pregnancy!) I decided to make a red, white, and blue themed banner for our mantle. This project literally took 5 minutes and I did it with items around the house so it was free!

I have a big file of scrapbook paper scraps from my days as a Stampin’ Up demonstrator so I started by going through it and picking out a couple of different patterns of red and blue scrapbook paper. I cut them into triangles with my paper cutter scored them 3/8″ from the end with my score board. I strung up some twine on the mantle, taping it discreetly on the top, then folded the score lines and draped them over the twine. Ta-da. Done.

I have never really decorated my mantle seasonally but seeing all the wonderful ideas on blogs lately I decided to try to re-vamp mine a bit (the top is a work in progress, hence it being purposefully cropped out in this photo!) If you need some inspiration follow me on Pinterest with the button on the right to see some other ideas I’ve been liking or check out some of the wonderful blogs on my sidebar!
